All artists and animators involved in creating films or games with an action storyline. Also for all filmmakers and visual storytellers. (Note: This is a mandatory class for 'Foundational Certificate in Animation' students.)
Overview:
Before anything can be created, it has to be visualized. Animated sequences need to be conceived sequentially with good continuity and filmic staging. This is entirely achieved through solid ‘visual storytelling’, ‘imaginative storyboarding’ and ‘well-timed animatic’ creation. Students will be introduced to all of these things – covering such topics as ‘visual storytelling’, ‘solid story content’, ‘core film language’, ‘dynamic timing’ and ‘action continuity’.

Outcomes:
Students successfully completing this course will demonstrate an understanding of the storyboarding process and be able to structure an action sequence with confidence and visual awareness. Students will also be competent in applying the core principles of filmic storytelling and language though the uses of finely tuned animatics.
